Steps For Removing A Layer From The Map

Right-click on the layer in the legend. A new menu will popup. Click on Remove Layers. To remove more than one layer at a time, first select all the layer to remove in the legend by holding down the Control key and clicking on each layer. Then right-click over one of the selected layers and select Remove Layers.

Note:
Removing a layer does not remove or delete the underlying data, it just removes the reference to the layer from the project.
