Create Intersections Where Selected Features Cross

This tool intersects two lines, breaking the two original lines into four line around the point they cross.

Steps To Create Intersections Where Selected Features Cross

  1. Click on the layer in the legend so it becomes selected. The layer must contain line geometries.
  2. On the Editing toolbar, click Start Editing. For shapefiles only one person can edit the file at a time. Also, if permissions on the shapefile prohibit read/write access you will receive an error when attempting to edit the layer.
  3. Use one of the selection tools to select two line features that cross each other.
  4. Click on Edit Tools on the editing toolbar.
  5. Click on Selected Edit Tools.
  6. Click on Create Intersections Where Selected Features Cross.
