Flip Selected Line Features

This tool will reverse the direction of a line feature. The first point will become the last point, the second point will become the second from last point and so on. Performing this operation will have no visual effect unless the lines are symbolized with an arrow.

Steps For Flipping Selected Line Features

  1. Click on the layer in the legend so it becomes selected. The layer must contain line geometries.
  2. On the Editing toolbar, click Start Editing. For shapefiles only one person can edit the file at a time. Also, if permissions on the shapefile prohibit read/write access you will receive an error when attempting to edit the layer.
  3. Use one of the selection tools to select one or more features.
  4. Click on Edit Tools on the editing toolbar.
  5. Click on Selected Edit Tools.
  6. Click on Flip Selected Line Features.
